Inka Luise vom Bozener Hof

born 08.09.2001 in Schermbeck

died 28.01.2012 in our arms

As her former owners unfortunately got divorced, Inka was returned to her breeder.

When I (Katja) took her at my place in May 2002, she was already 8 months old.

She was really a handful as she had already reached puberty and initially we had nearly no relationship.

With a lot of love, continously forging close links with her and certainly thanks to her breeder, Mrs. Hilde Staubach and also family Fesser (breeders of Pino) we finally grew together to a team.

Their suggestions have been a great help as they have always been all ears on my questions.

Inka always was (and forever will be) our beloved family-dog and since a few test excercises she never entered a dog school again.

The most important reason not to take training excercises at a dog school with her was (and still is) that she really doesn`t like the conventional training there.

But I think we have managed to raise her in good manner and skills without any specific training.

We are anxious to excercise together e.g. outside on a meadow or in everyday life or simply goof on and off and don`t take things as serious - as most dog schools we know do.

Inka is highly attentive and has an inquiring eye for almost everything.

Special for a dog is that she doesn`t bark - even when the bell rings... she only barks on command or when we`re outside working or playing ;)

At home she lies on the couch most of the time and highly enjoys snuggling with us, while being outside she has "ants in her pants".

Besides these things, she also likes (in variable order):

to sprint [she is really speedy, and before we moved, she often played tag with a Saluki in Nuernberg.]

to redd bottles [Brian casually "discards" empty PET- bottles on the floor while tidying, so Inka picks em up and cleans after Brian by apporting them through the basement to the crate]

"her" car [is her castle]

cats [she simply loves them]

to apport [she knows several things by name and brings them where we want her to bring them. Very helpful if someone is already in the garage and needs the car keys left upstairs :) ]

to play with Brian`s brothers (the youngest is just 6 years old)

to play hide- and- seek [outside or at home searching us, toys or something to eat]

since about one year she loves to go swimming - exactly since she learned not to submerge all the time *smile*

needless to say on above all, she knows some tricks like spinning around, barking on command, shaking left and right paw, walking through our legs, turning right or left direction, shell games and so on...

and she proves us often that also a dog, who meanwhile is in an advanced age, can still learn new things :o)

Inka (just like her predecessors) is a dog, who we take with us anywhere.

(of course except at the doctor's/ in supermarkets or e.g. also in summertime, when the car would heat up too much).

This fact never caused problems - in contrary, in almost every restaurant or when we went shopping, she gets cuddled by the staff or even by guests and we get compliments about her well-behavior. And also in a few restaurants even the cook comes out of his kitchen to share some cheese.

Everytime we are very proud in which friendly way she gets in contact with people (also strangers) and animals and how relaxed she behaves in new situations.

Her charm and her amicability are beyond words.

If we would let her she would always like to cuddle up to everyone (animal/ human, especially kids) and due to this she taught many that there`s no need to fear a big dog.

Solely with really big animals like e.g. horses and cows she is very respectful and you can notice that she finds them a bit fishy.

Though, today, I`m not going on horseback like in former days, she does not have to mind. (like Pino always used to in the past).

Aside from normal walks, we often take trips where the dog can be with us (for e.g. here) and also our holidays we normally plan with the dog (e.g. here).

In September 2010 Inka already turned nine - time passed really fast, yet she is still our "Mausekind" (=little mouse-puppy) and hopefully she will stay in her fit shape much longer!

Inka has been in very good shape, e.g vet and other people could hardly believe she was already over 10 years old - most thought her being only 4-5 years old.

It broke our hearts that we had to send her across the rainbowbridge in January 2012 due to a very aggressive cancer.

We miss you so much, Mausekind!

Only a few are really lively

and these who are will never die.

It doesn´t count that they ar not here anymore

-no one you really love is dead.
